Tour of Mercy…Pilgrimage of the Major Relics of St. Maria Goretti
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ: we were so blessed here at Our Lady of Grace to welcome a saint! In Saint Maria Goretti, we found a model of Christ’s love, mercy, and forgiveness. She proves to the world that one is never too young to show forth the power of the Cross; we will now show the world that any age is an acceptable time to reflect Christ. The bulk of the planning and legwork that went into St. Maria’s visit fell to our Steering Committee members, and they have my appreciation and gratitude. Throughout the day, Our Lady of Grace raised nearly $10,000 for repairs to and the upkeep of St. Maria Goretti’s shrine in Nettuno, Italy—the “Basilica of Our Lady of Grace.” As she has visited our home in Greensboro, Fr. Kowalski and I are looking into the details of a parish pilgrimage to Italy during the Holy Year, which would include visiting her at her home in Nettuno. After such an extraordinary event, we continue to reap the blessings and graces that God showers upon us, which draw us closer together as his children into one family!
